Finding My Mayberry

Mayberry…

The word conjures up different thoughts for many people. Most think of the classic Andy Griffith show or the country song by Rascal Flatts. Often, the word reminds us of a town from a simpler time gone by, safely tucked away from all the busyness and chaos of our world today.

To me, Mayberry is a state of mind. It’s the moments in our lives when everything feels just right – when we feel balanced, joyful, and at peace. However, so many of us rarely feel like that, and some never do. We’re plagued by to-do lists, never-ending piles of work, and innovations that were designed to make our lives easier but seem to do the exact opposite by wasting our time and making life even more complicated.

What’s worse is all of that “stuff” quickly takes a toll on our mind, body, and spirit. For many years, I felt unbalanced, chaotic, and lost, rushing to do this, running to do that, and feeling exhausted and drained by the end of the day only to wake up and do it all over again.

Can you relate? I’m sure you can.

I started this blog as a way to help others find work they can do anywhere in order to create a balance between work and life. However, taking control of how you earn money is only part of it. Along the way, I’ve learned there’s so much more to building a life you never need to run away from.

Can you imagine that? NEVER needing to get away from it all?

I’ve organized three main principles that, to me, make up a Mayberry lifestyle:

  • Be Well – taking care of your mind, body, and spirit
  • Live Well – a rich life filled with creating balance, helping others, and pursuing your passions
  • Work Well – a job or business that enriches (not disrupts) your life

I’m welcoming you to follow me on that journey as I chase after living a balanced, Mayberry life!
